Rallying Around A Family - Cradle Cincinnati Connections
Last week, Cradle Cincinnati Connections community health worker Deborah received a call from a grandmother in need of help. Grandma Peake had recently become the primary caregiver for her grandson, Jamauri. Her son - Jamauri's father - is deceased. Without custody rights to her grandson, she was ineligible for local services that assist families with young children.
Luckily, Cradle Cincinnati Connections was able to help. Deborah – thanks to the generosity of volunteers and local organizations – was able to connect Grandma Peake with a high chair, diapers, wipes, children's books, puzzles, toys and more to get her started on the right foot.
Grandma Peake was also in need of a bigger home to accommodate both of her grandchildren (she's also caring for granddaughter Shyla). Deborah immediately connected with Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, whose staff is working to provide Grandma Peake and her family a comfortable and welcoming home.
"We are grateful beyond measures; we can’t thank you enough for caring about us and making our life wonderful. We can smile and be happy knowing that people like you really do exist." - Grandma Peake
Many individuals and agencies helped support Grandma Peake during this time. We'd like to thank Rachel Murphy of the Rachel Lynn Studio, Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank, Healthy Moms and Babes, and Kimberly Frances of Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Cradle Cincinnati Connections is always in need of baby food and items, such as clothing, wipes, strollers and more. If you would like to donate, please contact Lindsey Cencula at lindsey.cencula@cchmc.org.
